How to Measure for Shutters

How do you measure up for shutters?

Correct measuring is the key to easy, hassle-free installations, so it’s worth taking the time to get it right.

It is important that you are completely happy with where your shutter frame will fit before you start measuring.

Recess Fit Shutters

The minimum recess depth must be at least 70mm to allow for the louvre to operate beyond the back of the panel.

If you notice there is a difference of bigger than 10mm, it means you’ve got a particularly wonky window and we recommend giving us a call because he may need to talk you through some options.

You may decide you want your shutter to have a midrail, this will allow you to open the louvres above and below the midrail independently of each other.

If your window has a height of 1800mm or more, your full height shutter must have a midrail. Although the midrail can be positioned anywhere on a shutter we recommend it mirrors the features of your window.

Face Fitting Shutters

Face fit is where the blind sits on the outside of the window frame.
